Train Chain
Connect the rails to help the train go from its start station to its destination station.
The available rails are limited ! Click on a rail on stock (left or right) to place it on the mat. Click on a rail behind the train (that changed color) to put it back to the stock.
You only need a mouse to play this game. Touch screen support enabled, please try it on your mobile device ! (you may need to turn it).
The train was designed by my 9-year-old daughter, while the tree is my 11-year-old son's first creation in Blender.
Tools : Blender, Godot with PhantomCamera addon
All other assets :
- models and textures : me
- buttons : on-screen controls pack from Kenney (doesn't seem to be available anymore)
- sounds :
* train whistle : train whistle toy with contact mic.wav by the_toilet_guy -- https://freesound.org/s/98853/ -- License: Attribution 4.0
* train constant sound : TRNSteam_Portland Holiday Express Train Passby_Tim Kahn_MKH80208030st by tim.kahn -- https://freesound.org/s/836038/ -- License: Attribution 4.0
* "crash" sound : Funny Running Footsteps Slip into Glass Bottles and Crash.wav by WannyManny -- https://freesound.org/s/609936/ -- License: Creative Commons 0
KNOWN BUGS that I will try to solve afterwards :
- Collisions are not handled at all. The trees can spawn inside a station, and nothing prevents rails from being placed on trees, on top of each other, or outside of the colored barriers. Please play fair until I can solve this, or you may encounter unexpected behaviors.
- The colors are extremely bright in Web, while with Desktop builds they look as they should.

I love trains and my attention was grabbed immediately when I spotted the title and main picture.
Very cool idea for a game. Totally worth pursuing on-going development.
Graphics are good, keep it as is. (great choice in visual style and props) wasn't expecting it. Mechanics showed no problems. Able o play it without any tutorial, very self explanatory.
Sound at this level of development always needs time and lots of work, so I will hold my comments on that.
Loved the idea. Be proud of yourself, this was fun and is a great idea to pursue.
Hi Shawn !
I'll reply to you as well here, because I think you deserve a more dedicated answer.
As said in the jam's comment, I'll most probably continue working on this game, first to fix bugs, then probably to add features.
Concerning the sounds, I'm happy with the horn but not with the constant sound, it's not matching the rest. I'd have loved to find sounds like in Zelda Spirit Tracks, but it was too hard to find with the remaining time (and I could not ask this to my kids).
It's thanks to comments and kindness like yours that I'm proud of myself. Again, thanks a lot.
See you in the next jam ! :-)
Very cool game, and what a good idea of the theme. Only complain is I wasn't able to beat a single level. It almost feels like there isn't enough pieces.
Thanks for your nice comment.
Indeed, there are not enough pieces. You need to click and remove the ones on which the train already went (they change color). Once they are back in the stock, you can click on them to place them at the end of the track.
